ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Iona College baseball team dropped an 8-1 decision to Monmouth at Navy's Max Bishop Stadium. The Gaels (4-3) fell behind 7-1 before getting on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning in the loss.

Rookie 3B Kyle Charron had two hits and scored the team's lone run. Junior C Chris Griffin drove in the run with his sixth inning double.

Senior LHP Justin Wiley (2-1) was allowed seven runs, only three earned in four innings. Junior RHIP Mike Brizzolara closed out the effort scattering five hits in five innings pitched.

The Gaels are back in action tomorrow in Annapolis in a doubleheader with Navy beginning at noon.
