POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Iona College women's water polo team lost a tough 8-7 decision to Brown at the Marist Invitational Sunday morning.
With the score tied at four at the half, the Gaels were outscored 5-4 over the last two quarters to secure the win for the Bears. For Iona, sophomore
Cecilia Leonard had three goals. Junior
Maggie Wood had two scores for the Gaels, while freshmen
Alyssa Turza and
Lauren Scheetz finished the scoring on the day. In net, junior
Kathleen Link had eight saves.
The Gaels rebounded later in the day, defeating Boston University 10-1 in an exhibition matchup. The Gaels travel to California next weekend, beginning with a matchup with Cal Baptist on Thursday.
