LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Iona College women's water polo team came back from a two goal deficit after three periods to send their contest with Siena into overtime. In the extra frames, the Gaels outscored the Saints 3-1 en route to a 12-10 victory.
Sophomore
Cecilia Leonard led Iona with six points (3g, 3a) while adding three steals. Junior
Maggie Wood had four points (3g, 1a), drew four kickouts and had two steals. Sophomore
Mackenzie Mone also had four points (3g, 1a) while adding a steal and a field block. Senior
Meghan Keller had two points (1g, 1a) while also drawing a kickout. Sophomore
Caitlin McGregor and freshman
Alyssa Turza finished the Iona scoring with a goal apiece. In net, junior
Kathleen Link had 12 saves while in a relief role freshman
Juliana Kiesselbach had four.
In an exhibition later in the afternoon, the Gaels defeated Hartwick by the score of 14-6. Turza had five goals and Wood had four more for the Gaels. The Gaels next hit the water at the Wolverine Invitational hosted by Michigan.
