BUFFALO, NY - The Iona College women's soccer team completed its 2011 campaign with a 1-1 double overtime tie at Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. As a result of Loyola's 1-0 victory over Saint Peter's, the Gaels finished fifth in the MAAC, one point shy of a championship berth.

Laura Jackson gave Iona an early 1-0 lead, converting a penalty kick in the 13th minute. Jackson netted her second goal of year in her first season in Maroon & Gold.
The Gaels kept the Golden Griffins off the board until the 72nd minute before leading scorer Kelly Rienwald converted her 10th goal of the year from 12 yards out.
Withstanding a 23-14 shot effort for the game, Iona had a 4-2 advantage in the overtime periods. Sophomore GK

The Gaels finished the 2011 season with a 5-10-2 overall record and were 4-3-2 in MAAC play. Picked ninth in the preseason, a young Iona squad exceeded expectations in head coach
