Maggie Wood and freshman
Amy Olsen to defeat the Seahawks 11-9.
Wood set a new Iona standard with eight goals, eclipsing the former mark of seven set in 1999 by Kristie Kelly against Wesleyan. She also contributed an assist and two field blocks. Olsen had one goal and tied a school record with six ejections drawn. Junior
Mackenzie Mone had two goals and two assists. In foul trouble throughout the contest, junior
Cecilia Leonard had one goal before being sent off in the third with her third ejection. Senior
Kathleen Link had seven saves and two assists in goal during the first half. Freshman
Marisa Gaynor had five saves and two steals in the second half.
The Gaels are back in action Apr. 9 when they open MAAC play at Marist College. Iona faces Siena at 11:30 am, before a 5:30 pm tussle with St. Francis (NY).
