HEMPSTEAD, NY - The Iona College softball team was unable to get their offense clicking in an 8-0 loss to Hofstra Tuesday afternoon on the road. The Gaels only reached base four times in the five inning contest.
The Pride opened their scoring in the first on a sacrifice fly by Ziemba, driving in Senarore who led off with a triple. In the second, the Pride put three more runs across with the big hit a two run single by Hirschbuhl. Hofstra batted around in the fourth and added four more runs before putting Iona away in order in the fifth to close out the contest.
Iona was only able to get two hits, both off the bat of senior 3B

Deanne Algeo made her first start of the season and allowed three earned runs and nine hits in 3.2 innings of work, falling to 0-2 on the season. Sophomore
Eileen McCann pitched a third of an inning of relief and allowed two earned runs. Erin Wade went the distance for Hofstra, upping her record to 7-3.
The Gaels travel to Stony Brook Thursday for a midweek doubleheader, beginning at 2:00 pm.
