LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Iona College women's water polo team picked up two wins Sunday afternoon on the final day of competition at the Siena Invitational. In game one, the Gaels defeated the host Saints 15-7 before defeating the club team representing RPI 18-5.
Junior
Mackenzie Mone had five points on three goals and two assists. She also recorded two steals on defense. Senior
Maggie Wood had the same stat line as Mone with three goals, two assists and two steals. Junior
Cecilia Leonard had three goals and an assist, and had two field blocks on defense. Freshman
Amy Olsen had two goals and an assist while classmate
Erika Lauraitis also found the net twice. Sophomore
Alyssa Turza and junior
Sam Cody finished up the Iona scoring, with Cody also recording a steal and field block.
Senior
Kathleen Link made seven saves and had three steals in a half of action. Freshman
Marisa Gaynor had five saves and two steals in the second half. The Gaels are back in action next weekend at the Wolverine Invite in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
