BRONX, NY - The Iona College baseball team dropped a non-conference tilt at Fordham at Houlihan Park. The Rams took advantage of a three run first inning and never trailed in their 9-5 win.
Rookies
Bobby Vitulano and
Joe Torres formed Iona's 1-2 punch at the top of the order combining for a 5-for-9 effort. Vitulano - earning the start at shortstop was 2-for-5 with a run scored while Torres had three hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases to run his season total to a team best 22. Junior DH
Chris Burke was 1-for-4 with two RBI in the loss.

Jordan Gilruth took the loss as five Gael pitchers saw action in the midweek contest. Sophomore
Christian Rahman had the longest outing of the five tossing four innings allowing five hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts.
The Gaels cut their deficit to 5-3 with a three run fifth inning and then 7-5 with two more in the seventh but could not find an equalizer.
Iona is back in action on Friday and Saturday in a non-conference three-game series vs. Monmouth. The Gaels travel to West Long Branch, NJ for a doubleheader to open the series on Friday before the series finale at Salesian Field on Saturday afternoon.
