WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Iona College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Monmouth in non-conference action at MU Baseball Field. The Gaels fell 12-1 in the opener and 8-1 in the nightcap.
Rookie LHP
Eddie Macaluso took the loss allowing five earned runs in 4.1 innings of work.
In the nightcap, Iona got on the board in the top of the first but Monmouth answered with four in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.
Junior 3B
Chris Burke had two hits and scored the Gaels lone run. He was driven in by Beck's two-out RBI double in the first.
The series finale scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled due to forecast of inclement weather. A makeup date has not been announced. Iona will makeup a previous rain out at Hartford on Tuesday (Apr. 26) at 3:00 pm.
