BRONX, NY - The Iona College softball team saw its seven game winning streak snapped Tuesday afternoon in a low scoring affair with Fordham. Held to just two hits, the Gaels fell to the Rams 1-0.
The Rams scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the first. Third baseman Jocelyn Dearborn hit a 2-1 delivery from Iona starter
Deanne Algeo to right center for a triple. Designated player Nicole Callahan followed with a single up the middle to give Fordham all the only run they would need.
Fordham's Jen Mineau stifled the Gaels for all seven innings to earn her 16th win of the season. Algeo took the tough luck loss, as she allowed just five hits and one run in three innings. Senior
Alyssa Maiese allowed just one walk in three innings of relief.
The Gaels are back in action Wednesday when they host Lafayette in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 2:30 pm.
