POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The number four seeded Iona College softball team fell to top-seeded Fairfield University 2-1 win in game two of the 2011 MAAC Softball Championship at Marist College's Softball Park at Gartland Field. The Gaels will face elimination tomorrow in a matchup with second seeded Manhattan, who fell 4-3 to Marist in game one.

Alyssa Maiese led off the second inning with a home run over the center field fence to give Iona a 1-0 lead.
Fairfield recorded two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Freshman second baseman Kristen Filicia scored on a groundout by senior first baseman Kristina Lingo, followed by an RBI bunt by junior third baseman Alli Wigand to bring in freshman catcher Lauren Liseth.
Fairfield's Sarah Minice claimed the win, striking out six and giving up three hits in 7.0 innings of work.
Sarah Jackson dropped her record to 13-8 on the mound for Gaels.
The contest between Iona and the Jaspers is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.
