FAIRFIELD, CT - Fairfield scored in each of the first five innings to defeat the Iona College baseball team 11-4 in the rubber game of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series at Alumni Diamond. The Gaels (17-28, 7-11 MAAC) trailed 10-0 before getting on the board in the seventh inning.

Sophomore CF Anthony Muccio was the lone Gael to post multiple hits with his 2-for-4 effort. Muccio scored once and drove in two to lead the Gaels. The first five batters in the Iona lineup were held hitless in 18 at-bats including juniors DH James Beck and Michael Chiaravalloti whose double-digit game hitting streaks came to an end in the loss. Chiaravalloti did however score twice after reaching base via walks.

The Gaels continue MAAC action next weekend when they travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to take on Marist at McCann Baseball Field.
