Iona jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Marist 4-0 in the first quarter, and 5-2 at the half. The Gaels jumped out 6-2 in the third with a goal by sophomore Amy Olsen.  Marist went on a 3-0 run to cut the lead to 6-5 before Olsen picked up another goal to push the Iona lead to two, 7-5. Another Olsen goal made it 8-5 before another Marist run cut the lead to 8-7.  Junior Alyssa Turza scored with three seconds left in the quarter to move Iona's lead to 9-7 heading into the final eight minutes.

Marist goals by Jessica Hamby and Jaclyn Puccino tied the contest at nine before Olsen put Iona back ahead by one with 4:41 remaining.  Puccino scored once again to tie the contest before Olsen answered with 4:02 remaining.  Allison Hamby scored the tying goal with 2:15 remaining to send the Gaels to overtime for the second time this season.

Senior Cecilia Leonard scored the only goal of the first overtime period with one second remaining before a 2-0 run by Marist in the second frame gave the Red Foxes the win.

Olsen led the Gaels with seven goals, while Leonard and Turza each scored twice.  Senior Caitlin McGregor was responsible for the final Iona goal.  Sophomore Marisa Gaynor had two saves for the Gaels.

Iona is back in action Sunday, when they host St. Francis (NY) at 9:00 am and Siena at 3:00 pm.
