BRIDGEPORT, CT - Sacred Heart scored 11 runs in the middle three innings in a 12-7 defeat of the Iona College baseball team in non-conference action at Harbor Yard. The Gaels (9-15) scored four times in the seventh inning but fell short on the road.

With the score tied at three, the Pioneers scored nine times in the fifth and sixth innings to take a lead they would not relinquish.
In the top of the seventh, Iona had its first four batters reach base. Burke reached on an error and Chiaravalloti singled to start the rally. Senior LF

The Gaels had a base runner in the eighth and ninth innings but could put across a run.

Bobby Vitulano each had two hits in the loss. Burke scored twice and Capowski drove in two to lead the Gaels.

Vincent Parisi tossed the first four innings, allowing five hits and three runs with two strikeouts in the no decision. Senior RHP
Hugh Henry (0-1) took the loss in relief.
Four Pioneers had two hits. IF Troy Scribner drove in four runs and C Dan Perez scored three times to lead the home team. Reliever Kevin Magoon (1-0) earned the win.
The Gaels are back in action in a three-game MAAC series with Manhattan on Friday (Mar. 31) and Saturday (Apr. 1) at Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale, NY.
