POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Iona College women's water polo team advanced to the 2012 MAAC Championship game with a convincing 15-6 win over fourth-seeded Villanova in the first semifinal contest of the tournament.

Nine different Gaels found the net for Iona, with seniors Mackenzie Mone and Caitlin McGregor, junior Alyssa Turza and sophomores Amy Olsen, Erika Lauraitis and Hannah Cross each scoring twice.  Senior Cecilia Leonard and freshmen Katie Stelnicki and Monica Stiles each had one goal in the win.  Sophomore Marisa Gaynor had six saves while freshman Devin Green had six saves in a relief effort.

Iona will play third-seeded Wagner College Sunday for the championship title at 2:00 pm.
