NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Manhattan completed a three-game series win over the Iona College baseball team with a 2-0 victory in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at City Park. The Jaspers scratched across solo runs in the third and fifth innings in defeat of the Gaels.

Sophomore RHP Steve Basile allowed both Jasper runs tossing five innings while allowing seven hits. Senior RHP Matt Marley tossed four scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts.

Senior 3B Matthew Kriss, juniors CF Joe Torres, 2B Bobby Vitulano and RF Joe Smith and rookie DH Matt Byrne each recorded a hit in the loss. A two-out double by Byrne in the top of the seventh was one of the Gaels top scoring threats in the game.

Manhattan's Scott McClennan earned a five-hit shutout with five strikeouts and no walks. Nick Camastro reached base in all five plate appearances with three hits a walk and a hit by pitch. Christian Sanisteban also had three hits for the Jaspers.

The Gaels continue their homestand Tuesday afternoon when they host Sacred Heart at 4:00 pm at City Park.
