HACKENSACK, NJ – The Iona College softball team dropped a non-conference affair to NEC member Fairleigh Dickinson 9-1 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman Jordan Courage allowed five earned runs in the loss and struck out three. Classmates Sarah Schutz and Brianna King picked up the two Iona hits. King was credited with an RBI in the second inning after she singled to center field. Schutz opened up the frame with a single and then advanced to second on a walk.
Samantha Lemm allowed one run on two hits over five innings and struck out five for the win. Cindy Zamudio led the Knights with four RBI and a pair of hits.
Iona will close out the MAAC home schedule this weekend with a pair of games against Canisius on Saturday and Niagara on Sunday.
