NEW BRITAIN, CT - The Iona College baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision in non-conference action at Central Connecticut this afternoon.

The Blue Devils scored solo runs in the first, second and sixth innings in defeat of the Gaels.

Rookie DH Zach Brown went 3-for-4 and senior SS Matthew Kriss went 2-for-4 to account for Iona's multiple hit efforts. Brown doubled twice but the Maroon & Gold were unable to push him across.

Junior LHP Eddie Macaluso took the loss. He allowed six hits and two runs in his scheduled three innings of work. Sophomore RHP Steve Basile pitched the middle four frames allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts. Red shirt freshman Mariano Rivera tossed a scoreless eighth inning in relief.

The Gaels and Blue Devils complete a quick two-game series tomorrow during both team's bye week from conference play.
