FAIRFIELD, CT - The Iona College baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Fairfield Saturday afternoon. The Stags won the opener 16-3 and the night cap 17-3.

In the opener, senior 3B Matthew Kriss and junior 2B Bobby Vitulano both went 2-for-4 with a double. Kriss scored a run and drove in another. Rookie 1B Christian Choman earned Iona's other RBI.

Fairfield 1B Anthony Hajjar was 4-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead the home team offensively.

Iona rookie RHP Max Bruckner took the loss. Fairfield's Mike Wallace tossed seven innings to earn his fifth win of the year.

In game two, Kriss was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Rookie DH Zach Brown also recorded two hits. Junior RF Joe Smith homered to left centerfield in the fourth inning.

Stag LF Jack Giannini and 2B Rob LoPinto each had three hits in the win.

Junior LHP Eddie Macaluso took the loss. EJ Ashworth earned the win.

The two teams complete the series tomorrow at noon.
