LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Rider defeated the Iona College baseball 6-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Sonny Pittaro Field.

The Broncs scored their six runs in their first five at bats. The Gaels' scored in their half of the sixth inning when senior 1B Jimmy Guiliano raced around from second on a wild pitch and an error by Rider catcher Eric Strano.

Junior SS Vinny DeMaria and freshman CF Jon Budesa had two hits apiece for the Gaels. Graduate LHP Eddie Macaluso took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Only two of the runs were earned. Junior RHP John Daddino tossed 2.2 innings allowing a hit with two walks and three strikeouts. Junior RHP Alex Fishberg closed the contest with a scoreless eighth inning.

Rider's Kurt Sowa earned the win allowing three hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings. Four Broncs recorded two hits led by 3B Nick Richter who lead off the game with a double and scored two runs in the win.

Iona hosts Lehigh Tuesday at City Park.
