GREENSBORO, NC- The Iona College baseball team fell to North Carolina A&T 12-5 in the opener of a three-game series in non-conference action at War Memorial Stadium. Trailing 5-2 after four innings, the Aggies scored 10 unanswered runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take down the Gaels.

Red shirt junior 1B Matt Byrne, junior DH Lou Matarazzo and senior RF Kyle DiVico had two hits a piece. Byrne scored a run and drove in another and Matarazzo posted an RBI. Senior LF Travis Mistretta scored two runs and had a two-run double in the third inning that gave the Gaels a 4-2 lead.

Junior RHP Bill Maier (0-2) took the loss, tossing 4.2 innings and allowing six runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.

Iona continues the series tomorrow.
