HAMDEN, CT - For the second straight game, Quinnipiac scored a run in its final at bat to defeat the Iona College baseball team in a 3-2 decision in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at QU Baseball Field. The Bobcats scored a run in the eighth and ninth innings to earn the win.

Senior C Carmine Palummo was 2-for-5 with a run scored to lead the Gaels. Junior DH Alex Beckett drove in both Iona runs on a bases loaded walk in the third inning and an RBI single in the fifth. Senior RF Kyle DiVico had a hit and a run scored in the loss.

Sophomore RHP Patrick Ryan tossed seven innings of eight hit ball, allowing two runs and three walks with four strikeouts over 100 pitches. Sophomore RHP Jared Finkel took the loss in the ninth after junior LHP Andrew Pucillo and sophomore RHP Kyle Ackley split the eighth inning.

Iona hosts Stony Brook Tuesday (Apr. 19) at City Park in a 3:30 pm start.
