BRONX, NY – Freshman Jayden Eggleston scored a career-high and team-high 14 points in the Maroon & Gold's 78-48 loss at Fordham on Saturday afternoon. Atlantic 10 Preseason First Team honoree senior G'Mrice Davis had 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Rams.
Fordham led by as many as 35 in the game, using 36 points in the paint and 16 second chance points to build itself a strong cushion. The Rams shot a 49.2% from the floor an 75% from the free throw line.
Iona shot 35.7% from the floor and 27.8% from beyond the arc. Eggleston netted her first career double-digit scoring game in her third ever start; she shot 6-for-11 from the floor and also brought down a career-high and team-high eight rebounds.
Junior Alexis Lewis had nine points with five rebounds. Rookie Toyosi Abiola concluded with seven points in 25 minutes. Junior Treyanna Clay played a team-high 35 minutes and tied a career-high with five assists. In her second consecutive start, senior Kristin Mahoney dished out five helpers in addition to three points.
Three different Maroon & Gold players recorded one block; Clay, sophomore Amelia Motz, and rookie Rebekah Justice.
The Maroon & Gold travel to Long Island to battle against the Stony Brook Seawolves on Thursday, Dec. 14.
