FAIRFIELD, CT – On Sunday, Mar. 26, the Iona College men's and women's rowing program donated time in support of the program's assistant coach, Catharine Labine. Her husband has been battling against Myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
The team arrived on site at 11:30 AM to aid in the sign up and followed it up with the race at noon. The presence of the Maroon & Gold rallied participants, cheered on the other volunteers, and helped with the post-ever clean up as well.
The Gaels banded together and completed in a 5K run and aided in raising $5,600 in a joint effort with Fairfield University athletics.
The rowing programs will compete in their first event of the spring on Saturday, April 1 in Shelton, CT against fellow MAAC schools, Fairfield and Manhattan.
