NEW ROCHELLE, NY – On Wednesday, Apr. 19, seven Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference institutional members were named to the nation's Top 25 NCAA Division I Teams Works Helper Helper Community Service Competition. Iona College's community service efforts ranks 17th in the nation and fifth among all the league's schools.
The Maroon & Gold are joined by fellow MAAC schools Fairfield, Manhattan, Canisius, Rider, Marist, and Monmouth. The MAAC has more members in the Top 25 than any other Division I conference in the nation.
The Gaels Student Athlete Advisory Committee president Katie Newton is exceptionally proud of the efforts she and her fellow student-athletes have put forth: “It is amazing how much has changed over the last couple years in the athletics department. Community service has really become the forefront of athletics and has allowed the athletes to become much more involved with the surrounding community.”
She continued, “With Iona being so high on the list for all Division I athletics, it really shows how much a difference a small school can make. I am lucky to be part of something truly special that is taking place on campus and in the New Rochelle community.”
