NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona college men's soccer head coach James Hamilton announces that Stephan Rigaud has joined the coaching staff as a goalkeeper coach. He joins the Maroon & Gold after gathering numerous years of experience at the collegiate and academy level. The Gaels now have a coach who emphasizes key areas like mentoring, leadership, realistic goalkeeping and regeneration exercises.
Rigaud has spent the last couple years with the Blua Weiss Gottschee U19 program as a coach and the Academy Director of Goalkeeping. There he coached sessions and aided in the college placement process, tactical approach, and video editing services.
Additionally, from August 2015 till this last July, Rigaud served as the St. John's University women's soccer assistant coach. Primarily in charge of the goalkeepers, he led the Red Storm in running sessions throughout the season and preparing game notes.
Rigaud has also spent time with the Westchester Flames and the Adelphi men's soccer program as an assistant coach.
Since February 2011, Rigaud has served as the director of Embrace the Grind Goalkeeping. He organizes clinics, private group training as well as game preparation and evaluation. Most notably, Embrace the Grind hosts preseason summer camp with goalkeepers that are currently playing at schools like Villanova, Northeastern, Binghamton, Quinnipiac, Albany, Bucknell and more.
He has a USSF B license, as well as a national youth license and NSCA national goalkeeping diploma. Amongst all his coaching experience, Rigaud has spent time viewing the academies of AJAX Amsterdam and Bayer Leverkusen. He has also spent time at Athletico Madrid's academy in February 2016 and February 2017 observing the U-19 teams.
Riguad earned a Bachelor's Degree in psychology in 2011 from LIU CW and Nassau Community College.
