BLOOMINGTON, IN – The No. 25 ranked Iona Women's Water Polo team dropped it's first contest of the season 14-6 to the Harvard Crimson. The Gaels finished the contest with 27 shots, seven exclusions and were 0-6 on the powerplay.

Senior
Britten Vilander played the first three quarters for the Maroon and Gold and was relieved by
Jordin Hale.
The Crimson started out hot from the first whistle, scoring the first goal just 44 ticks into the game. Harvard scored the next three in a six-minute span before Schultz found the back of the net to bring the score to 4-1.
The Maroon & Gold peppered the Crimson with seven shots in the second frame, including two that rang off the post, but were held off the scoreboard. Harvard added six more goals to bring the deficit to nine, 10-1.
Hofer tallied her first goal of the season to cut into the deficit with 6:27 left in the third quarter. Schultz connected with her second score to bring the Gaels to within seven. Iona recorded five more shots in the frame but were unable to score, as the Crimson padded their lead to 14-3 at the end of three.
The fourth quarter saw Van Reeken connect for her first two collegiate goals, as well as Joshi tally her first of the season.
Iona competes in an exhibition against Toronto tonight at 6:45 PM and concludes the Hoosier invite tomorrow with a pair of contests against No. 14 UC Santa Barbara and No. 12 Indiana.
