Machado To Play For Denver Nuggets NBA Summer League Team

DENVER, CO – As announced by the Denver Nuggets, Iona College men's basketball alum Scott Machado '12 will participate with the team in the upcoming 2018 MGM Resorts Las Vegas NBA Summer League. The Nuggets have three preliminary games scheduled, with the first being against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, July 6.

Machado played for the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League during the 2017-18 season. He appeared in 46 games, making 22 starts, and averaged 31.4 minutes per game. Machado showed his offensive prowess averaging 15.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. He shot 88.4% from the free throw line, 45.0% from the floor and 40.5% from beyond the arc.

Machado started for the Lakers in their three postseason games and averaged 40.5 minutes, 19.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 9.0 assists per contest.

The Nuggets' Summer League roster includes guard Malik Beasley, the team's first round pick and 19th overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft, forward Tyler Lydon out of Syracuse, the 2017 first round, 24th overall pick of the Utah Jazz and Vlatko Cancar, the 49th overall selection by Denver. Additional second round NBA draft selections include UCLA center Thomas Welsh and Petr Cornelie out of France.

The 2018 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League will feature all 30 NBA teams for the first time and will tip off with a record 10 games on Friday, July 6. Following initial preliminary games, the tournament style format will culminate in the championship game on July 17. All games will be played at Cox Pavilion and the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus.

For the second consecutive year, ESPN will present every game from Las Vegas via the ESPN App, along with a record 46 games on its linear television channels (ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU). NBA TV, co-managed by the NBA and Turner Sports, will air 36 games, beginning with the Summer League opener on July 6.
