LEONIA, NJ – The Iona College men's rowing program took part in a regatta hosted by Manhattan College at NYRA Overpeck Lake Training Center on Saturday morning. The Gaels raced against the Fairfield Stags in three races over 2000-meters and dealing with 4-7 mile per hour cross winds.
In the varsity 8 race, Fairfield went one and two with times of 7:04.53 and 7:44.99. Iona placed third in 7:57.55.
The second race of the men's and third race of the day was the varsity 4. The Stags took first and second place in 7:15.59 and 7:36.55. The Gaels finished the race in 8:00.0 flat.
The final race of the morning was the men's novice 4. The Gaels fell less than a second shy of victory as the Stags finished in 7:30.55 and the Gaels wrapped up at 7:31.31.

Katelyn Garcia was the coxswain for the men's varsity 8 race.
MEN'S VARSITY 4 (RACE THREE)
Hayden Skigen was the coxswain for the men's varsity 4 race.
MEN'S NOVICE 4 (RACE FIVE)
Hayden Skigen was the coxswain for the men's novice 4 race.
UP NEXT
Iona's next event is on its home turf. The Gaels host Manhattan and the United States Merchants Marine Academy on Saturday, May 1 at Glen Island Park. It is the final event of the second before the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday, May 16.
