ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Iona College rowing program opened its season on Saturday against Stockton University at the Intracoastal Waterway Atlantic City Boathouse. The Gaels took part in two races 1,800-meter races in cold, shivery conditions facing off against a 14 mile-per-hour headwind.
In the Varsity 8 race the Gaels fell to Stockton by just 2.8 seconds. The Gaels crossed the finish in 5:46.8, trailing the Osprey's time of 5:44.0.
Iona earned its first win of the season in the varsity 4 race crossing the finish line in 6:09.5. Stockton put in two boats in the varsity 4 race and it finished second and third respectively in times of 6:26.0 and 6:30.7.

Iona's next meet is the Sacred Heart Invitational on Saturday, April 10 hosted by Sacred Heart at the Housatonic River in Shelton, Connecticut.
