HAMDEN, CT - The Iona University men's soccer team remains unbeaten after playing to a 1-1 draw on the road at Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon. The Gaels conceded an equalizer with 43 seconds remaining.
Aly Camara's 37th minute score was his second in as many matches.
MATCH SUMMARY
Iona's goalkeeper Juan Alfaro Monge played well early on, making three saves on the first five shots he faced. The Gaels found twine on their second shot when Sergio Gonzalez Fernandez found Camara following a yellow card issued to Quinnipiac. Iona managed just two shots, one of which was the Camara goal, in the first half. Neither side tried a shot following the goal in the 37th minute.
Monge continued to play well, stopping three more shots to begin the second half and keep the Maroon & Gold on top. Quinnipiac would finally get one past Monge in the final minute of play, tying the match with 43 seconds to play. Jared Smith beat Monge and was subsequently issued a red card, forcing the Bobcats to play a man down for the final 43 seconds. With virtually no time left, Iona would settle for its second straight draw on the road.
