New Rochelle, NY - Sean Richards of the Iona men's Golf program and Brennyn Veit of the Iona women's Swimming and Diving team have been named the Ridgewood Savings Bank Student Athletes of the week for the week of Oct. 23-31. 

Sean Richards is the new to the Iona golf program with the Fall 2023 season being his first in the Maroon & Gold, this past week Richards led the Gaels to their best finish of the season with a solo second place at the 2023 Veterans Intercollegiate host at the Sebonack Golf Club. The freshman from Florida opened with one of the Gaels best rounds in round one, carding a two-under 70. Between the two rounds he posted nine birdies and finished inside the top ten with a tie for seventh place. 

Brennyn Veit led the Gaels to their second win of the season over providence, she earned her first win of the meet in 100-Breaststroke at 1:06.46, her second win of the day was in the 200-Breast at 2:23.91. The Sophomore from Port Jefferson closed out her first Iona hat trick with a 2:10.79 win in the 200-Individual medley.
