HAMDEN, CT - The Iona University baseball team lost the rubber game to Quinnipiac, falling 16-1 at QU Baseball Field. Iona opened the game with a run-scoring triple off the bat of
Jake Field, but Quinnipiac responded with two runs in their first plate appearance and wouldn't relinquish the lead.

Will Jennings reached base on a single, Field followed up hitting an RBI triple to center field for his team leading 32nd run batted in on the year. Quinnipiac starter Kevin Seitter got the next two batters to fly-out and strikeout, stranding Field at third base.
The Bobcats responded in the bottom half of the inning scoring two runs off
Alex Hunt. The first run came across to score on an RBI single and a sac-fly from McGerie Tuffy gave Quinnipiac the 2-1 lead. Hunt picked up a fly-out to get out of the inning and recovered, pitching a scoreless second and third frame adding two strikeouts in the process.
Over the course of their final three plate appearances, Quinnipiac's bats came alive scoring 14 runs during the span. The Bobcats broke open a two run game after scoring five runs in the fourth and followed up with five more runs in the fifth inning.
Quinnipiac added four more runs before closing out the Gaels in the top of the seventh inning to earn the 16-1 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Before returning home to City Park next weekend, Iona will travel to Long Island for a mid-week matchup against Hofstra. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18 at 3:00 PM.
