Iona SAAC Hosts Inaugural Trunk-or-Treat

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted their first Trunk-or-Treat on Wednesday night aimed at engaging the campus and New Rochelle community. The inaugural event had a great turnout, with more than one hundred kids registering to attend.  Participants interacted with each Athletics team while they handed out candy from their decorated cars at the Montgomery lot on campus.

Partnering with Commuter Life, the Iona SAAC raised money for the Gullotta House, a charity that aims to help residents of Westchester County who face educational and financial hardships. Supervised by Iona Athletics Strength and Conditioning coaches, student-athletes raised money with a lifting challenge.

"Trunk-or-Treat was an amazing opportunity for the Iona community to show their Halloween spirit and creativity to the greater New Rochelle families," said Iona Water Polo SAAC representative Lilly Morris. "It was a memorable experience for the families but most importantly the kids. Definitely one of the best events that I have been a part of at Iona."

The success of this year's SAAC event looks to set the groundwork to continue this Halloween community event for years to come.
