Egan Of Iona Swim & Dive Earns MAAC Weekly Award

EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced its weekly swimming and diving award winners, with Iona's Kieran Egan becoming the second Gael of the season to win the Men's Swimmer of the Week honors following a standout performance at the Gaels' Homecoming meet. This is Egan's second time winning a MAAC weekly award as the first came in his rookie season.

Egan helped lead Iona to victory, contributing to the 400-yard freestyle relay squad that recorded a MAAC-best time of 3:04.72. The Sunnyside, N.Y. native also secured two individual event wins, touching first in the 50-yard freestyle (20.93) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:51.17).

Egan joins teammate Harry Platt as the second Iona swimmer to earn MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week honors this season, following Platt's recognition earlier this month. Alongside Platt's honor, Dylan Riccio was named Men's Diver of the Week, while on the women's side, sophomore Mary Grace Waring and freshman Marissa Hengesbach collected Women's Swimmer of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.

Through the first three weeks of the season the Maroon & Gold have had the most weekly awards winners with five. Fairfield has the second most with four. For more on Iona's earlier awards from the first week of the season click here.
