EDISON, NJ - Iona University baseball graduate student James Kemp has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

Kemp delivered an outstanding performance across four games last week, posting a .533 batting average with eight hits, seven RBIs, and an impressive .867 slugging percentage. The Bayonne, NJ native played a pivotal role in Iona's two victories over Mount St. Mary's, smashing a two-run home run and delivering a walk-off base hit in Saturday's game. He carried his momentum into Sunday, adding his third extra-base hit of the week with an RBI double.

On the season, Kemp leads the Gaels in multiple offensive categories, including home runs, RBIs, totals bases, and OPS. His production also places him among the MAAC's top performers, ranking sixth in RBIs, tied for ninth in home runs, and 18th in OPS. 

The Gaels continue their road stretch with a match up against Wagner in Staten Island on Wednesday, March 19, before heading to Seton Hall for a three-game weekend series.
