MAAC Announces WLAX All-MAAC & Academic Teams

Kira Varada named Midfielder of the Year for the third year in a row

EDISON, NJ – Iona named 20 students out of 220 student-athletes that were named to the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, announced by the league office today. For the All-MAAC awards Kira Varada was named to the All-MAAC First team being the lone unanimous selection and was named the MAAC Midfield of the year for the third year in a row.

Kacie Scarduzio, Carly Linthicum and Ava Giuglinao were all named to the All-MAAC Second team, both Scarduzio and Giugliano's first All-MAAC honors and Linthicum's second year in a row on the second team. Freshman Finley Mulhern was named to the All-MAAC Rookie team.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Marist University led all institutions with 24 selections, followed by Iona University and Sacred Heart University with 20 athletes each named to the All-Academic Team. The duo of Fairfield University and Manhattan University were next with 19 honorees apiece, while the trio of Mount St. Mary's University, Niagara University, and Quinnipiac University all placed 18 members on the team. Canisius University (17), Siena College (17), Merrimack College (15), and Rider University (15) rounded out the academic team selections.
