LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Iona University men's track & field team completed their efforts at the 2025 MAAC Outdoor Championships on Sunday. The Gaels tallied seven medals as a result of two podium sweeps and a bronze in the triple jump by
Jiles Addison.
Both
Bradley Giblin and
Lachlan Wellington took home gold medals while setting MAAC Outdoor Championship records.
In a field of 10 teams, Iona finished in fifth place with 97 points.
MEN'S 1500-meter RUN
Bradley Giblin threw down an impressive PR to take a Gold medal in the 1500-meter event final with a time of 3:43.36. Giblin's time broke a MAAC Championship Record set in 2006 by the Maroon & Gold's own Richard Kiplagat.
Following in Second was
Duncan Robinson, who also surpassed Kiplagat's Championship record with a time of 3:43.46.
Tristan Coles rounded out the Iona podium sweep with a time of 3:46.59.
Christian Audrin was the final Gael finisher crossing the line in 11th with a time of 4:04.25.
MEN'S 5000-METER RUN
The Maroon & Gold took home not only another podium sweep, but another MAAC Outdoor Championship record with
Lachlan Wellington taking the Gold with a personal best time of 13:57.17. Wellington's dominant win beat the 5000-meter event championship record set by Iona's Mael Gouyette in 2023.
A great team effort, the Maroon & Gold filled out the podium with
Ollie Boltz (2nd, 14:11.41) and
Matt Rankin (3rd, 14:21.41) taking the silver and bronze.
Tadhg Donnelly (4th, 14:48.77) made it four Gael finishers taking the top four spots.
MEN'S Triple Jump
Jiles Addison took in bronze for the Gaels with a 14.78-meter effort in the triple jump. Addison's effort counted as a personal best and brought in six points for the Gaels.
Julz Shaw's 12.12 meter effort finished 19th in the event.
Men's 110-meter hurdles
Keith Holloway threw down his second sub-15 second effort of the weekend in the 110-meter hurdles, bringing in three points with a sixth place finish and a time of 14.94.
