EUGENE, OREGON - Sophomore
Duncan Robinson represented the Iona University men's outdoor track team in the semifinal round of the 1,500-meter at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday night at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Robinson posted a time of 3:43.42, the 11th-fastest overall, but narrowly missed advancing to Friday's final.
Running in the faster of the two semifinal heats, Robinson finished less than two seconds behind Wisconsin's Adam Spencer, the heat winner, and under a second away from qualifying for the 12-man final. Notably, the top 12 finishers in Robinson's heat crossed the line ahead of the top competitor in the second heat, Bradley's Jack Crull, who posted a time of 3:51.96. Advancement to the final was determined by the top five finishers in each heat and the next two fastest overall times.
Robinson's performance concludes the 2024-25 Iona Athletics season. His standout debut campaign included the second-fastest outdoor 1,500-meter time in an Iona singlet, a 3:40.04 at the NCAA East First Round, as well as a top-25 national indoor mile mark of 4:02.67 at the MAAC Championships. He earned silver medals in both events at the conference meet.
