EDISON, NJ— After a two-win week, the Iona University men's soccer team swept the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Weekly Awards as announced by conference office on Monday afternoon. Rookie duo
Enbiya Bolur and
Josh Bells collected honors after a stellar week for the Maroon & Gold.
Bolur garnered MAAC Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week honors and Bells was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week after playing pivotal roles in the two win week for the Gaels.
ENBIYA BOLUR
Bolur had a breakout week for the Gaels. The rookie paced the Maroon & Gold offense with two goals, both game winning tallies in the two-win week. He started the week making his first career start at Mazzella Field and scored the opening goal, the first of his career in the 26th minute of the 3-0 win over Stonehill. Bolur capped the week scoring the game winning goal in the 72nd minute in the 1-0 victory at Binghamton to give Iona its first road win of the season. He is ranked for the league lead in game winning goals after a stellar week of play.
JOSH BELLS
Bells had a sensational week, helping propel the Gaels to two wins with two shutout performances in goal. Bells tallied his career win and shutout on Wednesday, recording two saves in the 3-0 victory over Stonehill at Mazzella Field. He followed that up with another shutout in the 1-0 victory at Binghamton. The Fair Lawn, NJ native made four saves in his first road start, including three second half stops to secure the win. Bells ranks tied for the league lead in shutouts this season.

Iona is on a 10-day break with a bye weekend for Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opening weekend. The team is next in action on Tuesday, September 23 for the non-conference finale at James Madison.
