SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Iona University men's lacrosse team dropped a 32-4 decision to Utah in non-conference action at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The Utes opened the contest with the first 14 goals, building an early cushion the Gaels could not overcome.
Sophomore
Jimmy Kennedy accounted for the Maroon & Gold's first three tallies, recording his first hat trick of the season. He struck twice in the second quarter, including a pair of man-up markers, with his first coming at the 13:32 mark and another 12 minutes later. Kennedy completed the hat trick with 6:07 remaining in the third quarter. Freshman
Luke Neary added Iona's fourth goal less than a minute later.
Sophomores
Jack Martinez and
Cullen Lawry each registered assists, while freshman
Carson Turissini also contributed a helper.
In goal, sophomores Noah Pera and
Sal Caputo split time and combined for 18 saves.
The Gaels open MAAC play next Saturday, March 7, traveling to Buffalo to face Canisius at noon on ESPN+.
