Iona MLAX Falls to Quinnipiac in Home Finale at Mazzella Field

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona University men's lacrosse team dropped a 19-7 decision to Quinnipiac in its final home contest of the 2026 campaign at Mazzella Field. Sophomore Jimmy Kennedy and rookies Lleyton Hall and Carson Turissini each recorded two points to pace the Maroon & Gold.

THE RUNDOWN

The sides traded goals across the opening four scores, with Hall and Turissini each finding the back of the net in the first six minutes of action. Quinnipiac responded with a three-goal run to close the opening quarter and carried that momentum for the remainder of the contest.

Sophomore Cooper Metz halted the stretch with his second tally of the season at the 12:40 mark of the second quarter. The Bobcats answered with a pair to extend their advantage to 7-3 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the half. Turissini struck again midway through the frame to pull within three, but the visitors added two more before sophomore Cullen Lawry netted his team-leading 23rd goal of the season to close first-half scoring.

Quinnipiac extended its lead after the break, outscoring the home side 5-1 in both the third and fourth quarters. Hall recorded his second goal of the afternoon with 2:04 left in the third, and freshman Luke Neary added a late score in the final minute to round out the scoring.
