POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Iona University men's outdoor track and field team delivered a strong all-around performance at the Red Fox River Rumble on Saturday at Gartland Commons, highlighted by multiple event victories, personal bests and several marks that rank among the program's fastest this season.
400-METER RUN
Freshman
Jaylen Mozone led the way with a first-place finish in 47.67, a personal best by 0.05 seconds from last weekend at Providence. The time ranks No. 4 in the MAAC this season and stands as the fourth-fastest in program history. Fellow freshman
Joshua Aceto placed fifth in 49.15 in his first collegiate 400-meter race, posting the 16th-fastest time in Iona history.
TRIPLE JUMP
Senior
Jiles Addison claimed the event title with a mark of 14.21 meters, continuing his strong outdoor campaign with another first-place performance.
100-METER DASH
Junior
Derrick Touba sprinted to a second-place finish in 10.89, a personal best and his first sub-11 second performance, improving by 0.17 seconds from his previous best at UMass Boston and moving into ninth all-time at Iona. Sophomore
Dylan Donegan followed in third at 10.90, just 0.05 seconds shy of his personal best set at the METS Championships. Junior
Cameron Washington placed fourth in 10.92.
Freshman
Joe Surozenski finished seventh in 11.16 with a personal best, shaving 0.03 seconds off his previous mark. Sophomore
Jack Bretthauer clocked 11.33 for 11th, a personal best by 0.5 seconds from last week, while freshman
James Roche (11.48) and junior
Evan Gralitzer (11.72) rounded out the field.
200-METER DASH
Mozone added a second-place finish in 21.74, a personal best by 0.2 seconds from the Metropolitan Championships. The mark ranks No. 6 in the MAAC and seventh all-time at Iona. Aceto placed third in 21.84, improving his personal best by 0.7 seconds from last week and ranking No. 7 in the MAAC and eighth in program history.
Donegan finished seventh in 22.13, a full second faster than his previous best and now 13th all-time at Iona. Surozenski (22.73), Bretthauer (22.86) and Touba (22.86) each recorded personal bests that rank among the program's top 25 times. Roche (23.19) and Gralitzer (23.58) also competed.
4X100-METER RELAY
The quartet of Addison, Donegan, Surozenski and Washington placed second in 41.57, the fastest time this season for Iona and No. 3 in the MAAC.
1500-METER RUN
Freshman
Sean Lawton led the distance group with a fourth-place finish in 3:57.07 in his first outdoor 1500-meter race. Junior
Christian Audrin placed eighth in 4:02.56, a personal best by 0.11 seconds from last year's MAAC Championship. Sophomore
Caudell Cajuste followed closely in ninth in 4:03.02, trimming 0.23 seconds off his METS Championship time. Freshman
Jackson Jamison also made his outdoor debut in the event, placing 14th in 4:08.95.
110-METER HURDLES
Freshman
Wesner Archelus placed fourth in 15.62, a personal best by 0.5 seconds from last week's Friar Invite.
LONG JUMP
Addison added a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.34 meters in his first outdoor appearance in the event.
5,000-METER RUN
Freshman
Julian Laznik-Moraghan placed fifth in 16:03.71 in his first outdoor 5K performance.
