EMMITSBURG, MD – The Iona University women's outdoor track and field team concluded competition at the 2026 MAAC Championships Sunday at Morgan Track in Emmitsburg, MD. The Gaels claimed six medals on the final day of competition with three gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze medal while placing fifth overall in the team standings with 75 points.
Junior
Tayla Gunton led the way with MAAC titles in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter runs while freshman
Sofia Lumbreras captured gold in the 800-meter run. Freshman
Alex Schulz earned silver medals in both the 1,500- and 5,000-meter runs and freshman
Arabella Dickfos added a bronze medal performance in the 800-meter run.
1,500-METER RUN - GUNTON
1,500-METER RUN - SCHULZ
Gunton captured the MAAC title in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:29.74, the 14th-fastest performance in program history and more than four seconds faster than her qualifying performance from Saturday. Schulz earned the silver medal in 4:31.35.

Kiera Atkinson added three team points with a sixth-place finish in 4:38.87. Senior
Maya Todd McIntyre placed 10th in 4:45.14 and freshman
Kayleigh Atkinson crossed 12th in 4:51.55.
5,000-METER RUN - GUNTON
5,000-METER RUN - SCHULZ
Gunton secured her second gold medal of the championship meet in the 5,000-meter run, winning the event in 17:04.24. Schulz followed closely behind for her second silver medal performance, finishing in 17:04.33.
Kiera Atkinson earned two team points with a seventh-place finish in 17:33.56. Todd McIntyre finished 22nd in 18:43.14 while junior
Alexa Doe posted a personal-best time of 19:18.82 to place 25th, lowering her previous indoor personal best by nearly 10 seconds. Freshman
Alyssa Dovico crossed 28th in 19:43.93.
800-METER RUN - LUMBREAS
800-METER RUN - DICKFOS
Lumbreras claimed the conference championship in the 800-meter run with a winning time of 2:10.26. Dickfos earned the bronze medal in a personal best 2:12.07.
4 X 800-METER RELAY
The freshman quartet of Gabby Carroll,
Sarah Wisnieski, Lumbreras, and Dickfos earned four team points with a fifth-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay in 9:18.05.
DISCUS THROW
Junior
Tyaja Thomas placed 10th in the discus throw with a mark of 36.44 meters.
4 X 100-METER RELAY
Senior
Nadine Jefremow, freshman
Alexa Hermanns, freshman
Kaleigh Murphy, and Wisnieski finished 10th in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 51.65.
4 X 400-METER RELAY
Jefremow, Hermanns,
Kayleigh Atkinson, and junior
McKenna Arguien placed 10th in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:14.18.
TEAM STANDINGS
Quinnipiac won the team title with 164.25 points followed by Mount St. Mary's in second with 139 and Rider in third with 132.25. Sacred Heart finished fourth with 127.5 points while Iona placed fifth with 75.00 points. Merrimack finished sixth with 73 and Manhattan rounded out the top seven with 43 points.
