LEXINGTON, KY – Junior
Tayla Gunton represented the Iona University women's outdoor track team at the NCAA East First Rounds on Thursday evening at the University of Kentucky Track and Field Complex.
Competing in the 10,000-meter run, Gunton placed 22nd overall in a field of 46 runners with a time of 34:10.01. The top 12 finishers advanced to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
10,000-METER RUN
Gunton capped off her 2025-26 season in the event with her second-fastest 10,000-meter performance of the year. Her mark of 34:10.01 trailed only her NCAA qualifying time of 33:23.61 recorded earlier this season at the Raleigh Relays. Florida senior Hilda Olemomo won the race in 32:31.21.

Iona continues action in Kentucky tomorrow with the men as junior Aiden Coles and freshman Baptiste Cartieaux vie for a bid to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Coles competes in the 1500-meter quarterfinals at 5:15 p.m. and Cartieaux races in the 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinal at 5:40 p.m. Gunton returns for the women's 5,000-meter semifinal Saturday night at 8:10 p.m.
