Iona Men's Golf Opens NCAA Postseason Action in Arizona

MARANA, AZ - The Iona University men's golf team opened postseason play on Monday at the 2026 NCAA Marana Regional, carding a first-round score of 14-over par (302) at The Gallery Golf Club North Course in Marana, Arizona. Competing against one of the strongest fields in the country, the Gaels closed the opening day in 13th place in the 14-team regional.

Iona sits just one stroke ahead of North Dakota State (+15) and remains within striking distance heading into Tuesday's second round, trailing San Diego State by three strokes and Florida Gulf Coast by five. Tournament co-host Arizona and top-seeded Oklahoma State share the team lead after both schools posted impressive opening rounds of 11-under par (277). LSU rounds out the top three at 9-under par.

Freshman Jennings Oelke once again led the way for the Maroon & Gold, firing a strong 1-under par 71 on the challenging 7,317-yard layout. Oelke's round places him tied for 22nd overall entering the second day of competition.
Connor Henderson posted the second-best round for Iona, finishing at 3-over par and tied for 46th place.

Sean Richards followed with a 5-over par 77 to sit tied for 57th, while Ryan Slevcove carded a 7-over par 79 and is tied for 70th. Sahir Balyan rounded out the Gaels' lineup with an opening-round score of 11-over par.

The Gaels return to action Tuesday morning for the second round of the 54-hole NCAA Regional. Iona's tee times are scheduled from 8:50 a.m. to 9:34 a.m. local time, with the Gaels beginning play on hole one. The tournament concludes Wednesday, with the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championships.
