NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona University volleyball head coach Alyssa Kaufman announced the addition of Siobhan Saccio to the Gaels' coaching staff as an assistant coach.
 
Saccio joins the Maroon & Gold after nearly two decades as an educator and coach in the Harrison Central School District, where she built a reputation for developing student-athletes and establishing a competitive, team-first culture. Her coaching experience spans the high school and club ranks, highlighted by leading Harrison High School's varsity volleyball program to a league championship, a Section 1 semifinal appearance and League Coach of the Year honors in 2022.

"She is an exceptional teacher, a proven program builder and someone who genuinely cares about the development of her student-athletes both on and off the court. Her passion for the game, ability to connect with players and extensive coaching experience in our region make her a tremendous addition to our staff. I know our student-athletes will benefit greatly from her leadership and energy."
 
Saccio most recently served as a middle school physical education teacher in the Harrison Central School District after spending 16 years teaching at Harrison High School. Throughout her 19-year career in education, she combined classroom instruction with coaching while mentoring student-athletes across multiple sports, including volleyball, basketball and lacrosse.
 
As Harrison's varsity volleyball head coach from 2021-23, Saccio led the Huskies to a league championship during the 2022 season while guiding the program to the Section 1 semifinals. She earned League Coach of the Year honors following the championship season, and two of her student-athletes went on to compete at the collegiate level.
 
In addition to her scholastic coaching experience, Saccio coached with several respected club volleyball organizations throughout the region. She most recently served as an assistant coach with Prodigy Volleyball Club after previous coaching roles with Downstate Juniors Volleyball Club, where she received the organization's Coaching Achievement Award in 2023.
 
A former standout student-athlete at SUNY Cortland, Saccio earned four varsity letters and served as team captain for the Red Dragons. She received Regional All-America Honorable Mention recognition during her collegiate career before graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in physical education. She later earned a master's degree in adapted physical education from Cortland while serving as a graduate assistant.
 
Before beginning her collegiate career, Saccio was a three-sport standout at Hauppauge High School, where she earned Most Athletic honors. She was inducted into the Hauppauge High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
 
Saccio joins Kaufman's staff as the Gaels prepare for the 2026 season.
