NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona University Volleyball has been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the 2025-26 AVCA Team Academic Award, honoring the program's academic success during the 2025-26 academic year.
To earn the award, a program must maintain a cumulative team grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale).
More than 1,400 high school and collegiate volleyball programs received the honor for their academic achievements during the 2025-26 academic year.
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon said in an AVCA press release. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
The Maroon & Gold open the 2026 season on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET in Ruston, Louisiana, where they will begin play at the Louisiana Tech Tournament.
