NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona University men's soccer team closed out its two-game homestand with a 5-2 setback to UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon. The Gaels were thwarted by a three-goal opening half from the visiting River Hawks at Mazzella Field.

GAME SUMMARY
The visiting River Hawks dictated the opening 45 minutes with an 11-4 margin for shots. UMass Lowell broke through with three goals in a five-minute stretch starting in the 33
rd minute to take a 3-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Iona finally got on the scoreboard in the 51
st minute as Ortigosa lifted a free kick from 20-yards out to a charging Borla who chipped in the left footed goal. The River Hawks countered with quick attack in the 70
th minute before adding its final tally in the 78
th minute.
The Gaels capped the scoring just 13 seconds after the final visitor goal as Roman Jr. played a long ball up the right side to Bolur who found O'Boyle on the centering cross to bring the final to 5-2.

- UMass Lowell held a 20-16 advantage for shot attempts over Iona including a 12-3 margin for shots on goal.
- Iona led with seven corner kick attempts to the three attempts from the River Hawks.
