Brandon Mann enters his first season with the Iona College baseball program and will serve as an assistant coach. Mann comes to New Rochelle after a successful college baseball career at Florida Atlantic and Lynn University in Florida.
As a freshman at Florida Atlantic, Mann's squad was ranked No. 11 in the nation and won the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in 2003. The team competed in the competed in the NCAA Championship at the Coral Gables Regional, hosted by the University of Miami. After his sophomore season he transferred to Division II Lynn University. In his final season in Boca Raton, Mann was the starting second baseman for the Fighting Knights and led the nation in double plays in 2006 with 65. He was also named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American for the South Region, graduating college with a 3.5 GPA.
As a scholastic athlete at Clarkstown HS, Mann was named 2002 New York State Baseball Player of the Year and captained his Rams team to the NYS Class A championship. The two-time All-Section and All-County selection was also named All-State First Team as a senior. The Journal News named Mann Athlete of the Year in 2002.
While in high school, Mann played summer ball for four seasons for the American Legion Rockland OTB Pirates from 1999-2002. In his first season with the Pirates, he played for Coach Pat Carey in the summer of 1999 at the age of 15. Mann's teams earned three district titles, two state titles, and a Mid-Atlantic Regional championship. In 2002, Mann led the OTB Pirates to the American Legion World Series in Danville, VA, finishing fifth in the country. Mann earned a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management with a specialization in Sports Management from Lynn this past spring. Born on Jan. 10, 1984, in Plantation, Florida, he was raised in New City, NY.
